Coaching Strategies
The links below are strategies I have developed in my classroom to help non-Spanish speaking students build their confidence, learn faster and produce more Spanish in shorter amounts of time. These strategies also help me recycle concepts and words to keep everything fresh and relevant.
Related materials are attached so you can see examples of how I use them.
Copy Cat
Our students are notorious for not listening to each other when they practice speaking and not thinking about what they are saying. This is a great strategy for working on both problems!
Boot Camp
Do you need your students to learn lots of vocabulary really fast? This is the strategy that does that for you. It is also great for teaching the kids how to study vocabulary on their own.
Change That Tone!
Sometimes when we want our students to describe people they get stuck only on the obvious things. Here's a great way to extend what they can say.
Deal-a-Day
Great activity for practicing speaking with verbs and tenses, story telling, daily routine and more! Good for any language!
Revolution
A perfect and intense practice of a specific structure and a wide variety of vocabulary. Who will need to study after this?
Around the World
This is a great strategy when you are ready for your students to put it all together for more complex communications. This is Revolution x 10!
Practice Scenarios
These scenarios are mini-versions of larger conversations. Build your students confidence by giving them small chunks and build their proficiency up!
Speaking Strips
The basic element of any conversation is a sentence. This strategy mulls a conversation down to just that. Help build their confidence in how to say things so they can put it all together later. This is great for helping them discover the patterns of language so they can reproduce it in different contexts.
